Intel Board Chair Transition: Craig H. Barratt to Replace Frank D. Yeary
IT House March 4 News, Intel announced in California on the 3rd that its board of directors has elected Craig H. Barratt as chairman of the board. The appointment will take effect after the annual shareholders’ meeting on May 13 this year. The former chairman, Frank D. Yeary, who has led the company’s board for three years, will retire.
Barratt joined the board as an independent director in November 2025. He has worked at Qualcomm, Intel, Google, and other companies. He previously served as CEO of wireless semiconductor company Atheros and continued to oversee related businesses after Qualcomm acquired the company. Later, Intel acquired Barefoot, where Barratt was CEO, and he also served as Senior Vice President of Ethernet, Photonics, and Networking at Intel. Barratt is currently a board member of Astera Labs.
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said:
Craig has deep expertise in semiconductors and has demonstrated outstanding technical and operational leadership in complex engineering-driven companies. As we enter the next phase focused on rigorous execution, product leadership, and foundry progress, his experience will provide critical support to management and create sustainable long-term value for shareholders.
Intel’s incoming Chairman Craig H. Barratt stated:
The company has taken significant steps to strengthen financials, advance technology and product roadmaps, and improve operational discipline. The board thanks Frank for his leadership and for helping lay the foundation for Intel’s next stage of development. I am honored to lead the board in continuing to focus on supporting disciplined execution, investing in and expanding R&D and manufacturing based in the U.S., ensuring Intel remains competitive and successful in the coming years.
