Live Nation Entertainment Inc. is facing a jury trial in New York over allegations from the US Justice Department and over three dozen states that it illegally monopolizes the live music industry. The trial, which began with jury selection on Monday, could lead to Live Nation being forced to divest its Ticketmaster unit and will feature high-profile testimonies from music industry figures. Live Nation denies operating an illegal monopoly, despite nearly two decades of antitrust scrutiny, including previous settlements with the Justice Department.
