"Black Gold" Renewed as Emerging Track Opens Carbon Fiber Growth Space, Zhongfu Shenying and Jilin Chemical Fiber Stocks Rise
(Source: Caixin)
As emerging sectors such as commercial spaceflight, low-altitude economy, and humanoid robots surge in demand, carbon fiber is expected to shift from a strategic material for “great power heavy weapons” to a mainstay in the national economy.
On March 17, the concept of carbon fiber strengthened, with Central China Shenying (688295.SH) rising over 10%, followed by Jilin Chemical Fiber (000420.SZ), Jilin Carbon Valley (920077.BJ), and Zhongjian Technology (300777.SZ).
According to recent news, China National Building Material Group’s subsidiary, Central China Shenying, independently developed the SYT80 (T1200 grade) ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, which has officially been put into production, reaching the top level globally and achieving mass production at the scale of hundreds of tons.
“The breakthrough of SYT80 marks an important milestone in China’s carbon fiber industry development. It not only solves the problem of whether high-end materials are available but also makes a key step forward in ‘quality, usability, and affordability,’” said Zhou Yuxian, Chairman of China National Building Material Group. Chen Qiufei, Director and General Manager of Central China Shenying, explained that ultra-high-strength carbon fiber is extremely sensitive to microscopic defects, where nano-scale flaws can significantly impact material performance. The company’s team relies on a defect database for control and the fourth-generation dry-spinning wet-spinning technology iteration to achieve precise defect control throughout the entire process—from precursor filament preparation to carbonization—successfully transitioning from laboratory technology to industrial-scale production.
Several industry insiders stated that under the combined influence of policies, demand, and supply, China’s carbon fiber industry is experiencing explosive growth, with technological performance improving rapidly, equipment systems being perfected, and large-scale capacity expanding simultaneously. As emerging sectors such as commercial spaceflight, low-altitude economy, and humanoid robots continue to emerge, carbon fiber is poised to move from a strategic material for “great power heavy weapons” to a main player in the national economy.
