Guangming Daily Urumqi, March 19 — (Reporter Zhao Minghao, Huang Xiaoyi, Yao Kun) On March 18, the Xinjiang Electric Power Trading Center Co., Ltd. announced that since the launch of the “Xinjiang Power Transmission” project in 2010, Xinjiang has delivered a total of 304.36 billion kWh of new energy, accounting for about 30% of the total outbound power. This marks a milestone for Xinjiang as a key national energy resource strategic base, advancing the cross-regional optimization of clean energy, supporting national energy supply security, and achieving the “dual carbon” goals.

Calculations show that the 304.36 billion kWh of new energy is equivalent to saving about 92 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 249 million tons, sulfur dioxide by about 780,000 tons, and planting over 11 billion green trees. This provides solid support for pollution reduction and carbon lowering in eastern and central regions and improving air quality.

As the core area of China’s “Three Bases and One Corridor,” Xinjiang is rich in wind and solar resources and is an important starting point for the “West-to-East Power Transmission” and green power exports. By 2026, the “Xinjiang Power Transmission” project will continue to accelerate. As of March 11, the annual outbound power has exceeded 30 billion kWh, reaching the target 14 days earlier than in 2025. Currently, major projects such as the Qarkang-Lingyang (Qinghai Huatuogou East) 750 kV transmission and transformation project and the ±800 kV Xinjiang (Southern Xinjiang) power transmission Sichuan-Chongqing ultra-high voltage direct current project are progressing rapidly.
