Ask AI · How will rising costs affect price-sensitive users in India’s PC market?

IT Home, March 18 — Research firm Omdia announced today that India’s PC shipments will reach a new high of 15.83 million units in 2025, a 12.5% year-over-year increase; however, rising costs of memory, processors, and graphics cards are expected to drag down the country’s PC shipments by 9.8% in 2026, down to 14.28 million units.

Breaking it down, India’s notebook shipments will reach 12.3 million units in 2025, a 15.2% increase; desktop shipments will be 3.6 million units, a 4% growth. Additionally, data shows that PC shipments in India’s education sector decreased by 5% year-over-year in 2025.

Similar to other regions, the mainstream consumer and entry-level commercial segments in India’s PC market, which are price-sensitive, will be the most affected by the current round of component price increases, putting users’ purchasing willingness to the test.

On the other hand, due to significantly stronger headwinds in the commercial market compared to the growth in the consumer market, tablet shipments in India declined by 18% in 2025, falling to 4.934 million units. The industry expects a slight rebound to 5.038 million units in 2026.
