Shanghai Futures Exchange and China Minmetals Renew Strategic Cooperation Agreement
On March 19, the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SFE) and China Minmetals Corporation (China Minmetals) renewed their strategic cooperation framework agreement in Shanghai.
According to the agreement, the SFE and China Minmetals will leverage their respective advantages and follow the principles of “complementary strengths, win-win cooperation, integrity and innovation, and risk control.” They will carry out comprehensive exchanges and cooperation in areas such as business innovation, futures and spot linkage, market training, and talent exchange to jointly promote the development of a multi-level commodity market system.
Since signing the strategic cooperation agreement in 2022, the two parties have worked closely together, making significant progress in product updates, delivery system improvements, and other areas, which has promoted the mutual development of futures and spot markets. This renewal of the agreement marks a deeper and more comprehensive phase of cooperation.
Chen Dexin, Chairman of China Minmetals, stated that China Minmetals always keeps in mind its mission to serve the nation through mining and to strengthen the country’s mining industry, aiming to become a globally competitive, world-class metals and mineral enterprise group. He hopes that both sides will fully utilize their advantages to better serve national strategies and contribute to stable supply and price stability of bulk commodities and market order maintenance.
Tian Xiangyang, Chairman of the SFE, said that the global bulk commodity market remains in a complex environment with intertwined internal and external risks and overlapping conflicts between old and new issues. The SFE will continue to focus on serving the real economy and national strategies, emphasizing strengthened regulation, risk prevention, and high-quality development, and accelerate the building of a world-class exchange. He hopes to further strengthen cooperation with China Minmetals and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the futures market in serving the real economy.
