Tech News, March 17 — On March 16, in Futian Township, Anxi County, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, three wild large pythons were unexpectedly found while building a river embankment. Workers stopped work promptly to avoid danger. Fortunately, the situation was handled properly without injuries.

At the time, construction workers were operating an excavator to dig earth when the pythons sensed ground vibrations and suddenly darted out of the soil, startling everyone present.

On-site confirmation revealed that all three were Burmese pythons, a second-class protected species in China. They weighed over 100 jin (about 50 kg). The largest one weighed over 50 jin (about 25 kg), was about 4 meters long, and the other two were slightly smaller. All were quite active.

After discovering the giant pythons, workers immediately stopped construction, evacuated onlookers, and quickly called for help. Local police and wildlife rescue departments arrived swiftly, using professional tools to safely capture the three snakes and transported them to the Anxi County Wildlife Rescue Center for temporary placement and health checks.

Rescue personnel explained that Burmese pythons are non-venomous snakes. Their appearance this time reflects ongoing improvement in the local ecological environment. After confirming the snakes are healthy and unharmed, staff will work with forestry authorities to release them into suitable habitats away from residential areas and with abundant vegetation.

Relevant authorities remind the public that as temperatures rise in spring, snake activity increases. During outdoor construction or daily outings, if you encounter wild snakes, do not attempt to catch, chase, or harm them. Keep a safe distance and contact professional departments for assistance.
