AEP Ohio, the U.S. Department of Energy, and SB Energy announced a $4.2 billion investment in new electric infrastructure, including 765-kilovolt transmission lines, to support data center growth in Appalachian Ohio. This project, which includes a 10-gigawatt data center campus in Piketon, Ohio, will be funded by SB Energy, ensuring that AEP Ohio customers will not experience increased transmission rates. The new infrastructure is critical for economic development and is expected to begin powering the site by 2029.
