CCTV News: As the heating season in northern China comes to an end, our country has successfully completed the peak-shaving and supply guarantee tasks for natural gas this winter and spring. The total natural gas consumption during this heating season reached 180 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of over 2%. Several gas storage facilities set new records for gas production, providing a solid energy supply guarantee for residents’ warm winter and industrial production.

As the external natural gas transmission valves gradually close, China’s first gas storage cluster in the northwest—China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tuhua Oilfield Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster—officially ended its four-month continuous gas extraction task. During this cycle, the daily gas production of the Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster exceeded 6.2 million cubic meters, setting a new record.

It is understood that the third phase of gas production at the Tuhua Oilfield Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster reached 600 million cubic meters, a 170% increase over the second phase. Next, the Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster will accelerate its construction, introduce the first domestically produced high-pressure, high-capacity compressor units, significantly improving the localization level and operational efficiency of the gas injection system.

In Puyang, Henan Province, the Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Cluster, a key force in peak-shaving and supply guarantee for natural gas in North China, supplied over 430 million cubic meters of gas during this winter and spring. During the heating season, facing peak demand caused by multiple rounds of heavy rain and snow, the Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Cluster activated a special supply guarantee plan. Relying on a digital management platform, they built a three-dimensional protection system of “manual inspections + intelligent monitoring + grid-based duty,” ensuring stable natural gas supply.

Zhang Jian, Director of Production and Operations at the China Petroleum Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Management Center, told reporters that they are fully focused on gas extraction and supply, with peak daily extraction reaching 8.5 million cubic meters. As this extraction cycle ends, they are not only preparing for equipment spring maintenance but also accelerating the expansion of the gas storage facilities, orderly advancing the construction of the Wei 2 Storage, further enhancing regional peak-shaving capacity.

During this heating season, the National Pipeline Group has vigorously promoted the construction of peak-shaving capacity for the natural gas pipeline network, efficiently coordinating resource backup, increased transmission, and supply. The maximum daily natural gas supply through the “national grid” exceeded 1.1 billion cubic meters, setting a new record; the volume of gas entering the network surpassed 110 billion cubic meters, a 3.6% increase year-on-year. The 57,000-kilometer main natural gas pipeline network across the country operated safely and smoothly.
