As the heating season in northern China comes to an end, our country has successfully completed the peak-shaving and supply guarantee tasks for natural gas this winter and spring. The total natural gas consumption during this heating season reached 180 billion cubic meters, an increase of over 2% year-on-year. Several gas storage facilities set new records for gas production, providing a solid energy supply guarantee for residents’ warm winter and industrial production.

As the natural gas export valves gradually close, China’s first gas storage cluster in the northwest—China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tuhua Oilfield Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster—officially concluded its four-month continuous gas extraction task. During this cycle, the daily gas production of the Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster exceeded 6.2 million cubic meters, setting a new record.

Wen Wansheng, Executive Director of China National Petroleum Corporation’s Tuhua Oilfield Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster: “The third cycle of gas extraction at the Wengjisan Gas Storage Cluster reached 600 million cubic meters, a 170% increase over the second cycle. Next, we will accelerate the construction of the cluster, introduce the first domestically produced high-pressure, high-capacity compressor units, which will significantly improve the localization and operational efficiency of the injection system.”

In Puyang, Henan Province, the Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Cluster, a core force in peak-shaving and supply guarantee for natural gas in North China, has supplied over 430 million cubic meters of gas this winter and spring. During the heating season, facing peak demand caused by multiple rounds of heavy rain and snow, the Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Cluster launched a special supply guarantee plan. Relying on a digital management platform, they built a three-dimensional support system of “manual inspections + intelligent monitoring + grid-based duty,” ensuring stable natural gas supply.

Zhang Jian, Director of Production and Operations at Sinopec Zhongyuan Oilfield Gas Storage Management Center: “We are fully committed to gas extraction and supply, with peak daily extraction reaching 8.5 million cubic meters. As this extraction cycle ends, we are not only conducting spring maintenance on equipment but also accelerating the expansion of the gas storage capacity, orderly promoting the construction of the Wei 2 storage facility, further enhancing regional peak-shaving and supply capabilities.”

During this heating season, the National Pipeline Group has vigorously promoted the construction of peak-shaving capacity for the natural gas pipeline network, efficiently coordinating resource reserves, increased transmission, and supply. The maximum daily natural gas supply through the “National Network” exceeded 1.1 billion cubic meters, setting a new record; the total gas input into the network surpassed 110 billion cubic meters, a 3.6% increase year-on-year. The 57,000-kilometer main natural gas pipeline network across the country operated safely and smoothly.
