Tencent Hunyuan HY 3.0 Large Model in Internal Testing, Expected Release in April

Phoenix Technology News, March 18 — During a media briefing following the release of its financial report, Tencent revealed that the new large model HY 3.0 from the Mixyuan series is currently in internal testing. The plan is to officially launch it in April 2026. This model upgrade represents a major version iteration of the Mixyuan series, with significant improvements in core performance compared to the previous version HY 2.0.

According to Tencent, HY 3.0 focuses on optimizing core technological capabilities. Compared to HY 2.0, the model’s reasoning ability and agent capabilities have been significantly enhanced, further elevating overall intelligence. To accelerate model iteration, Tencent’s Mixyuan team restructured its organizational framework and R&D processes in the second half of 2025, focusing on improving training data quality and rebuilding infrastructure related to pre-training and reinforcement learning, laying a solid technical foundation for base model development and rapid iteration.

Public information shows that Yao Shunyu was reported to have joined Tencent in September 2025 and later officially became Tencent’s Chief AI Scientist, overseeing the research and development of the Mixyuan large models. Based on industry-standard R&D iteration cycles, HY 3.0 will be the first major large model product led by Yao Shunyu after joining Tencent. The release of this new model is also seen by the industry as his first public showcase of technological achievements.
