HK Stock Moves | Tencent (00700) Opens Over 4% Lower; Q4 Comprehensively Exceeds Expectations; May Reduce Buybacks to Invest More in AI Development
Zhitong Finance APP learned that Tencent (00700) opened more than 4% lower. As of press time, it fell 4.09% to HKD 528, with a trading volume of HKD 1.093 billion.
On the news front, on March 18, Tencent Holdings released its financial report. In the fourth quarter, Tencent achieved revenue of RMB 194.37 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13%; Non-IFRS operating profit was RMB 69.52 billion, up 17% year-on-year. For the full year, revenue reached RMB 751.77 billion, an increase of 14%; Non-IFRS operating profit was RMB 280.6 billion, up 18%.
It is worth noting that in terms of capital allocation, Tencent will seek a balance between AI investment and shareholder returns. Tencent President Martin Lau said that considering the high return potential in the AI field, the company may reduce share repurchases when the stock price is relatively low in the future and allocate more resources to AI development. It is reported that Tencent plans to distribute a final dividend of HKD 5.30 per share for 2025, an 18% increase.
