Jointly announced with Sony Pictures the latest progress of the LABUBU movie. Both parties will develop a live-action animated film based on the IP character THE MONSTERS (LABUBU) under Pop Mart.

The film is planned to be directed and produced by Paul King, who previously directed the Paddington series and the prequel to Willy Wonka, Wonka. THE MONSTERS artist Long Jasheng will serve as executive producer. Additionally, Paul King will team up with Steven Levenson to write the screenplay for the film.

In addition to Paul King, the film’s producers will include Michael Shaeffer, who was involved in producing The Martian, and Wenxin She, who contributed to A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Wish Dragon. Britney Morris will be responsible for overseeing production on behalf of Sony Pictures.

This collaboration marks the expansion of the “The Monsters” series from collectibles to the cinema. According to data provided by Pop Mart, last year in the first half, “The Monsters” series products accounted for 34.7% of the company’s revenue, followed by the “Molly” series at 9.8%.
