On March 15, Sichuan Jiebo Saier Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was exposed on CCTV’s 3.15 Gala for illegally releasing injection “exosomes.” The company’s responsible person disguised “exosomes” frozen raw liquids without any product information on the packaging as “technical services” and marketed them. Around 9 p.m. on the 15th, staff from Sichuan Tianfu New Area Market Supervision Administration responded to the reporter from Jingjing, saying that market regulators, health authorities, and public security departments at provincial, city, and district levels had arrived at the involved company, seized suspected products, and questioned the company’s leaders and employees for statements. Currently, 17 bottles of “exosomes” frozen raw liquids were found on site, each containing 1 milliliter. Some products’ packaging, besides labeling “Jiebo Saier Stem Cell Exosomes” and “For Atomization Use,” did not specify quality units or other product information.

It is reported that “exosomes” are bioactive substances secreted during stem cell culture. This product, touted by merchants as an “anti-aging favorite” and “universal miracle drug,” is mostly a product with no certifications. Its mechanism of action, clinical testing, and other medical procedures are not yet clear in the medical and academic fields, remaining mostly in academic research and theoretical stages. Currently, no “exosome” drugs in China have received approval for market sale.

According to CCTV, the responsible person of the involved company revealed that due to lack of medical qualifications, injecting “exosomes” can only be done through cooperation with medical institutions. This practice is called “borrowing a platform to act,” and they also claimed that diseases like epilepsy, arthritis, and diabetes could be treated by inputting “exosomes.”

There are many consumer complaints online about “exosomes” for anti-aging: “I only had exosomes done, and my whole face got infected, with severe acne.” “I received the injection, then had an allergic reaction, and my face was ruined for three months.”

According to Tianyancha, Sichuan Jiebo Saier Biotechnology Co., Ltd., involved in the incident, is located in Huayang Street, Tianfu New Area, Sichuan. The legal representative is Tan Yang. Its business scope includes: cell technology research and application, human stem cell technology development and application, health consulting services (excluding diagnosis and treatment), health preservation services (non-medical), and more.
