Refinery shutdowns for maintenance cause a significant decrease in asphalt manufacturers' shipment volumes

As of the week ending March 17, the total shipment volume from 54 domestic asphalt producers and manufacturers was 234,000 tons, a decrease of 18.5% compared to the previous period. Some southern regions experienced a more noticeable decline, especially in East China, where major refineries intermittently halted asphalt production. This led to a drop in supply and high prices within the region, which suppressed transactions. The refineries’ shipments were hindered, resulting in a significant reduction in asphalt shipments.
