[Caixin] The case of Jiang Chaoliang, who was investigated on February 21, 2025, and dismissed from his positions on October 27 of the same year, has made new judicial progress.

On March 17, 2026, the official announced the progress of the case involving Jiang Chaoliang, a former member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress and former Deputy Chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress. The case was concluded by the National Supervisory Commission and transferred to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution. The Supreme People’s Procuratorate lawfully decided to arrest Jiang Chaoliang on suspicion of bribery and designated the Nanjing People’s Procuratorate in Jiangsu Province to review and prosecute. Recently, the Nanjing People’s Procuratorate has filed a public prosecution with the Nanjing Intermediate People’s Court.

During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial authorities lawfully informed the defendant Jiang Chaoliang of his rights to litigation, questioned him, and listened to the opinions of his defense attorneys.

The prosecution accuses: The defendant Jiang Chaoliang, utilizing his positions as Director of the Agricultural Bank of China’s Comprehensive Planning Department, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Bank of Communications, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman, and President of China Development Bank, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Agricultural Bank of China, Deputy Secretary of Jilin Provincial Committee, Governor, and Secretary of Hubei Provincial Committee, to seek benefits for others through the convenience of his positions and the privileges formed by his authority or status, illegally accepting others’ property, with a particularly large amount involved, and should be criminally prosecuted for bribery according to law.
