Sinopec News: Polysilicon supply and demand game intensifies, prices continue to fluctuate under pressure

Recently, the polysilicon market has seen light trading, with supply margins tightening but demand recovery weak. The supply and demand game has intensified, and prices continue to fluctuate downward. As of March 13, mainstream transactions for N-type dense material ranged from 43-50 yuan/kg, and granular silicon from 42-45 yuan/kg. Downstream wafer and cell production remains low, with procurement mainly driven by immediate needs and limited new orders. Although silicon material companies continue to reduce production and perform maintenance, the high inventory levels in the industry persist, exerting ongoing downward pressure on prices. The weakening of industrial silicon further erodes cost support, leading to fierce battles between upstream and downstream players over price increases and decreases, creating a strongly wait-and-see market atmosphere. In the short term, downstream production recovery is slow and unlikely to provide effective price support. Supply contraction cannot change the high inventory situation, and with the expected cancellation of export tax rebates in April, demand still faces pressure.
