China's consumption goods using commodity barcodes has grown to nearly 100 million varieties

Beijing, March 17 (Reporter Lin Lili) According to data from the China Item Coding Center, a subsidiary of the State Administration for Market Regulation, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the number of consumer goods registered with product barcodes in China increased by 99.623 million, a 9.3% growth compared to the 13th Five-Year Plan period, maintaining steady growth overall. Notably, by 2025, the number of consumer goods newly registered with product barcodes will reach 25.949 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.2%, with both the scale and growth rate reaching new highs during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Currently, the total registered product data has reached 230 million items.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, two categories saw growth in the tens of millions: clothing/shoes/hats/textiles with an increase of 40.738 million, and daily necessities with an increase of 10.601 million. Fourteen categories experienced growth in the millions. With the continuous upgrade of the “trade-in” policy, the demand for home renovation replacements has been stimulated. By 2025, the new categories of home renovation products using product barcodes will increase by 3.781 million, a year-on-year growth of 295.6%.
