Ancient Cave Ground Discovers Wartime Mortar Shell - Police Detonate on Site

At around 9 a.m., police received a report of a suspected bomb at a construction site at 6 Pak Shau Road, Ku Tong. Upon investigation, officers believed it to be a wartime mortar shell, approximately 25 centimeters long. Personnel cordoned off an area within 50 meters of the scene and called the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) to the site for handling. Firefighting robots were also on standby at the scene.After inspecting the site, personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit decided to detonate and destroy the mortar shell on-site. The shell was successfully detonated at around 11 a.m. Approximately over 100 people were evacuated to safe locations, with no injuries reported.

Officers arrived to investigate and believe it is a wartime mortar shell, approximately 25 centimeters long. The scene was cordoned off within a 50-meter radius, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) personnel were called to handle the device. Firefighting robots were also on site for standby.

After inspection, EOD personnel decided to detonate and destroy the mortar shell on the spot. The device was successfully detonated around 11 a.m. During the incident, about 100 people were evacuated to a safe location, with no injuries reported.
