Kroger is continuing its plan to close approximately 60 locations nationwide by the end of 2026, with two stores in Houston scheduled for April 10 closures. While the company stated these closures are to increase efficiency and ensure long-term business health, leading to about 1,000 employee layoffs, it remains unclear how many additional Kentucky stores might be affected beyond the one already identified in Louisville. Kroger has not disclosed which other stores it plans to close, and a spokesperson was unaware of additional closures in the Midwest since June 2025.
