European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on March 9 that Europe must face reality and see the true face of the world today when discussing Iran issues. She pointed out that ongoing regional conflicts are causing a series of unpredictable consequences, with spillover effects already beginning to appear. Von der Leyen said Europe can no longer simply serve as the guardian of the old international order. While Europe will continue to defend and uphold the rule-based international system built with its allies, it can no longer see this system as the only way to protect its interests. She emphasized that Europe needs to be prepared to use its power more decisively and proactively, and highlighted that security must be the core principle of all actions. (CCTV News)
