FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE) is preparing for a severe windstorm with peak gusts of 50–75 mph in parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania, and 35–60 mph in other service areas, beginning Friday. The company has activated its incident command structure, mobilized crews, and provided customers with safety and outage reporting tips. Restoration efforts may be slowed by high winds, which prevent the use of bucket trucks, and by fallen trees and blocked roads.
