Nissan, Uber, and British startup Wayve are collaborating to develop robotaxis, with a pilot program aiming for late 2026 in Tokyo. This partnership involves Nissan Leaf electric vehicles equipped with Wayve’s self-driving technology being made available through Uber, marking Uber’s first autonomous vehicle venture in Japan. The initial phase will use trained safety drivers, with plans to expand services to over 10 cities worldwide.
