The 9th China International Import Expo and Hongqiao Forum Consultation and Symposium held in Switzerland

The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum (Hongqiao Forum) Consultation and Symposium were recently held at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

Officials and representatives from international organizations such as the International Trade Centre, UN Conference on Trade and Development, and World Trade Organization, as well as representatives from the Geneva delegations of Nicaragua, Cape Verde, Kazakhstan, and other countries, along with representatives from partner organizations like the Swiss Center, attended the event.

Teng Bo, Deputy Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, said that over the past eight years, the CIIE has brought together companies, buyers, and consumers from around the world to promote交流, mutual learning, and the establishment of lasting cooperative relationships.

Delamora, Director of the International Trade and Commodities Division at UNCTAD, stated that China plays a key role in supporting multilateral trading systems, advancing South-South cooperation, and helping to bridge development gaps across various fields. Using the 9th CIIE and Hongqiao Forum as platforms, and implementing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, China is accelerating development in a timely and widely welcomed manner.

Liang Hong, Chinese Permanent Representative to Geneva, said that the CIIE is an important public good provided by China to the international community and a vivid practice of the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind. It reflects China’s willingness to work with countries around the world for development and mutual benefit.

Song Shangzhe, representative of the China International Import Expo Bureau and the Hongqiao Forum Secretariat, stated that the Hongqiao Forum is held concurrently with the CIIE to build consensus, promote global openness and共同发展, support multilateralism, and improve global economic governance.

Participants expressed positive views on the CIIE and Hongqiao Forum’s support for the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and look forward to further strengthening cooperation.
