People’s Financial News, March 13 — On March 12, local time, UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated at a regular press conference that, according to the latest data from the UN Refugee Agency, since the recent escalation of the Middle East situation, over 4.1 million people have been internally displaced in Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, and Pakistan, and approximately 117,000 have sought asylum in other countries. The UN Refugee Agency pointed out that in Iran alone, about 3.2 million people from 600,000 to 1 million Iranian households have been displaced due to conflict, with most fleeing from Tehran and other major cities to the northern and rural areas of the country. The UN Refugee Agency noted that this is only a preliminary estimate, and as the conflict continues, this number is likely to rise further. Dujarric emphasized that all parties involved in the conflict must protect civilians, ensure humanitarian aid channels remain open, and, in accordance with their international obligations, keep borders open to those seeking safety.
