President Trump of the United States posted on social media on Thursday, once again pressuring Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell to “lower interest rates, cut immediately, and don’t wait until the next meeting!”

This statement is part of his recent criticism of the Federal Reserve leadership. In recent years, the Trump administration has been pushing for loose monetary policy to support economic growth and financial markets.

Powell has repeatedly emphasized that the Fed’s decisions are based on the latest economic data, usually made during the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meetings. Over the past few months, the Fed has been cautious about cutting rates, closely monitoring inflation trends, labor market conditions, and financial stability risks.

The Fed will hold a two-day monetary policy meeting from Tuesday to Wednesday (the 17th to the 18th). Financial markets largely expect the Fed to keep rates unchanged this time. According to the CME FedWatch tool, there is a 97.4% probability that rates will remain steady next week. The federal funds rate is currently set in the range of 3.5% to 3.75%.
