Analyst expect Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and other senior executives to use the annual developer event to boost confidence in AI scalability and reinforce the company’s networking leadership. This will involve Nvidia showcasing multiple hardware innovations, including a possible new chip for inference, which is the process of generating results from AI models.
Another key component to Nvidia’s upcoming conference will be for the company to demonstrate “AI capex durability,” according to Swiss bank UBS UBS -3.45% ▼ . This means reassuring investors that the $660 billion being spent on AI this year by hyperscalers such as Alphabet GOOGL -1.78% ▼ and Amazon AMZN -1.39% ▼ is sustainable.
Nvidia’s Challenges
The big challenge facing Nvidia is for the company to keep up with global demand for its microchips and processors that power AI applications and models. To that end, many analysts on Wall Street want to see assurances at the GTC conference that shipments of Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips and hardware are on track and that orders are being filled as expected.
“We expect comments around market sizing & growth rates, along with product introductions, to be a modest positive for the stock,” wrote Truist Securities in a recent note to clients. NVDA stock could use a boost from the GTC conference. The company’s shares have been stuck around $185 since last August.
