Amazon is making a significant push to turn its Alexa+ assistant into a comprehensive service hub. The tech giant rolled out integrations with four major platforms—Angi, Expedia, Square, and Yelp—that will go live throughout 2026, fundamentally changing how consumers interact with everyday services through voice commands.
What Users Can Actually Do With Alexa+ Now
The practical applications are straightforward. Through Expedia, customers can ask Alexa+ to find pet-friendly accommodations for specific weekends and locations, then book and manage those reservations without leaving the conversation. Yelp brings restaurant discovery into the mix, Square facilitates payments and bookings, while Angi connects users directly with home service professionals.
The service has already built momentum with existing partners including Fodor, OpenTable, Suno, Ticketmaster, Thumbtack, and Uber. These integrations demonstrate that the AI assistant model goes beyond simple information retrieval—it’s becoming a transaction platform.
The Bigger Strategy: Copying ChatGPT’s Playbook
Amazon isn’t the first to pursue this path. ChatGPT has been aggressively integrating third-party apps into its interface, and other AI providers are watching closely. The vision is simple: why force users to jump between multiple apps and websites when an AI assistant can handle everything in one conversation thread?
