QCAD becomes one of the first CAD-pegged stablecoins approved by regulators in Canada
DeFi Technologies’ subsidiary Stablecorp’s QCAD has received approval from Canadian regulators, officially gaining final recognition as a digital asset trust. This breakthrough marks the compliance operation of a CAD-backed digital currency in Canada, opening the door to establishing standardized fiat on-ramps.
The Deeper Significance of Regulatory Approval
The successful licensing of the CAD stablecoin QCAD reflects Canada’s regulatory attitude towards digital assets. This CAD-pegged stablecoin’s approval paves the way for payment settlement and capital market applications, marking a new phase in the digital CAD ecosystem. Compared to other regions still exploring regulatory pathways, Canada has taken the lead in providing a clear compliance framework.
DeFi Technologies’ Strategic Layout
As early as September, DeFi Technologies announced a strategic investment in Stablecorp, making QCAD its primary CAD solution for products and trading platforms. The company plans to launch multi-tiered products under the Valour brand:
