I've been thinking about why the identity layer in Web3 is so fragile. It's easy to say, everyone talks about self-governance and data privacy, but in actual scenarios, user experience is very fragmented — you use KYC on one chain, and then have to repeat the process on another protocol. Jumping back and forth, repeatedly doing KYC, and the talk about privacy becomes just empty words. The fragmentation of identity verification has always been a looming issue. Some are trying to break this cycle with mechanisms like IDOs, so that identity information can circulate on-chain without being redundant. This seems to be a direction that truly addresses the core pain points.

I complain about this every day. Repeating KYC is really annoying, it feels like Web3 is still using the Web2 approach.

KYC repeatedly messing around is really annoying, I always feel like I'm being scrutinized again and again.

Doing KYC repeatedly is really annoying, constantly being validated for the same reason of being exploited for small gains every day.

Isn't this the most ridiculous part of Web3 right now? Constantly promoting decentralization and privacy, but KYC is more complicated than traditional finance.

Repeating KYC really is incredible; it feels like being humiliated every time. IDO is indeed a good idea, but the key is that someone really needs to implement it.

Yeah, that's the issue. Repeating KYC is really annoying. Each protocol has its own verification process, and it feels like working for the exchange.

Repeated KYC is really unbelievable. What happened to the promised privacy?
