The latest assessment from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons has been released: FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) is expected to be released on December 14, 2044, which is a reduction of four years from the original 25-year sentence.
The reasons for this commutation include:
Digital Overview:
By the way, SBF's ex-girlfriend and former CEO of Alameda, Caroline Ellison, is in a slightly better situation - the prison bureau estimates that she will be released in May 2026, with a sentence of 2 years.
Another detail worth noting: In April of this year, SBF was transferred from a facility known for its harsh prison conditions to a low-security prison in California. Although the prison authorities did not disclose the reason for the transfer, SBF's lawyer had cited his autism diagnosis and clean criminal record as reasons for the transfer.
By the way, Apple and A24 are making a biopic about SBF – it seems that the drama in the crypto world will never cool down.
